My process is to do sketches of thematic ideas or images, adopting exaggerations of shapes to create fanciful personalities. Whether to make the sculpture stationary or positionable, decisions about the color palette, potential embellishments, and special features vary with the series.  Dozens of hours of manipulation are invested until the desired effect and craftsmanship are achieved.

Born and raised in Indiana, Susan Wright earned degrees in sociology and occupational therapy.  She worked in private practice, specializing in traumatic hand injuries and disabilities prior to raising three children in Corvallis, Oregon.  She taught drawing for eleven years to 4th and 5th Graders and was an intensive gardener.  A wide variety of arts and crafts has led to her back to this adventure in sculpture.

Susan is a member of Pacific Northwest Sculptors and the International Sculpture Center.  Her commissioned work"The Flock Family"  is installed at Los Angeles Children's Hospital.   She has shown at a variety of locations including:
